Vaccine Is Safe ;Health Ministers Tell Public As They Take 1st Jabs

The minister for health Jane Ruth Acheng has allayed public fears that the Astra-Zeneca  COVID -19 vaccine is not safe for human consumption.

The minister for health Jane Ruth Acheng has allayed public fears that the Astra-Zeneca  COVID -19 vaccine is not safe for human consumption.

Acheng was the first in line for her first jab at Mulago Specialized Women and Neonatal Hospital. She assured told the public that the COVID -19 vaccine is safe.

“There is nothing peculiar about the jab. I have just taken it(jab) and I am not experiencing anything funny,”Aceng said

Also vaccinated was the permanent secretary at the Ministry of Health dr, Diana Atwiine.

Acheng explained that the vaccine has been subjected to various tests and has been proven fit for the human body.

Astra Zeneca Vaccine 

She asked Ugandans at risk of contracting the virus, with major health issues or underlying illness to take up the personal responsibility and consider taking the vaccines.

“Anybody hesitating to take the jab should know their health is their responsibility. If you value your life and that of your loved ones, vaccinate,” Aceng said.

The exercise has commenced today with the frontline health workers at Mulago and Entebbe Grade B hospitals. It will generally target 150000 health workers across the country and 550,000 teachers all benefiting from the 1st phase of the vaccination.

Health workers are expected to be vaccinated between March 10 to 15 while teachers begin from March 16 to 19.
