Locals in Rwamukundi cell, Mwanjari ward, Southern Division in Kabale Municipality are still coming to terms with the strange death of a local businessman whose lifeless body was found in a rental.
The deceased, Mark Tumuhimbise Drake, 30, was discovered dead on his bed by neighbours who reportedly broke into his rented room after he failed to come out on Febuary 01 2022.
One of the neighbours and a colleague to the deceased identified as Collins Mugisha told police that the deceased was last seen alive and well on January 31,2022 as he entered his room at 9:00 pm. Mugisha says the following morning the deceased failed to open his door until afternoon, prompting suspicion that something was wrong.
Locals who spoke on condition of anonymity claim the deceased could have suffered a panic attack after his girlfriend reportedly dumped him for another man. They claim the deceased had invested a lot of money on his lover only to be told she was getting married to another man.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson says the neighbours unanimously agreed to break down the door after attempts to knock were futile. He says the neighbours forcefully broke down the door and found Mugisha lying dead on his bed.
Maate says the locals alerted the police who later transferred the body to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem, pending investigations.
He says the deceased was previously from Rwanama cell, Kyamurari ward, Bugongi town council, Sheema district but had transferred to Kabalee, studied and graduated at Kabale University and proceeded to work at Cyber Technologies Stationary near Kabale.
