Police in Mukono have launched investigations into a violent shooting incident and aggravated robbery on/of two people at Mpumu Village Kisoga Town Council Mukono district.
On Saturday night, the masked assailants attacked Mutai Livingstone, a manager at Salama Tea estate and Kalungi Bashir, 50; a security guard at the same company, and shot at them before robbing 40 million shillings meant for salaries of workers.

Eye witnesses allege that the thugs riding on a motorcycle caught up with the vehicle and continued shooting from all sides, injuring Mutai on the stomach and leg while the security guard was shot on the back. The two thugs clad in plain clothes opened the car and grabbed the money before fleeing the scene.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson told our reporter Minah Nalule that the assailants were shooting from all sides while taking cover in the nearby vegetation.
He explains that police arrived at the scene and have since managed to collect items as exhibits, including the stolen gun used for the crime abandoned a few meters from the crime scene.

He says the victims were first rushed to a nearby Herona hospital in a critical state later transferred to Mulago hospital due to the seriousness of their injuries.
Armed robberies in Mukono district had scaled down in the recent past following heightened security operations.
In June 2022, two suspects accused of an armed robbery at Spice supermarket at the junction of Kampala-Jinja-Bugerere road in Mukono municipality were arrested in June 2022.
Three robbers armed with an AK47 raided the supermarket shot a cashier identified as Irene Nakandi in the back and took off with an unspecified amount of money.
In July 2022, joint security agencies netted 10 suspects linked to armed robberies in Mukono district causing injuries and deaths within months.
The suspects were netted in ongoing operations for raiding their shops, homes, and student hostels among others.
