Police spokesman Fred Enanga says they are investigating a strange call that the deceased, Ibrahim Tusuubira alias Isma Olaxess alias Jajja Iculi received moments before his tragic death.

Jajja Ichuli was mercilessly gunned down with a sub machine gun by unknown assailants outside his residence in Kyanja, Kawempe Division.

During a press briefing on Monday at the police headquarters in Naguru, Enanga said it has been established that Jajja Iculi was a targeted victim by soon to be identified killers.

He says the managed to trace his movements that fateful day from Munyonyo, Mutungo to his final place of death in Kyanja at 9:20 pm, where two unknown assailants waylaid him at the house gate and fired several bullets at his car at close range, killing him instantly.

“He played football at 4:00 pm then moved via the Entebbe expressway, they stopped for dinner at Nyakana’s bar in Mutungo until 8:15 pm for his home,”Enanga said.

Enanga backtracked to a strange phone call the deceased received from a yet to be identified person, that compelled him to park his car for a while at the Munyonyo roundabout. He explains that the deceased seemed to be waiting for the person who called in vain, until he decided to proceed on his journey.

“As soon as they left Mutungo and reached Munyonyo roundabout, Isma received a phone call and asked the driver to park aside because the person behind the phone was telling him to wait for him there. They waited in vain as he didn’t appear. It is not clear whether the caller is linked to the masterminds of this murder or not but our investigations will be able to establish in due course,” he further explained.

Preliminary findings

Police have confirmed the arrest of three suspects at the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) over the brutal killing of the prominent vlogger.

Among those arrested is the deceased’s driver Wasswa Mathias who cheated death by dodging  multiple bullets that penetrated the front seat where the target was sitting in the co-driver’s spot. The driver is in protective custody and helping police with investigations.

Enanga says police canine dogs led investigators to the main road where the alleged assassins are believed to have taken a boda boda following their bloody crime. He adds that a glove that belongs to the shooter was recovered along the road.

“The two assailants managed to escape on foot but the canine trailed their scent up to the main road where it is believed they boarded a motorcycle. They dropped a glove which is believed to have been used by the shooter that the canine picked,” he says.
