KMP Spokesman Patrick Onyango says that as of now, “only five bodies, all of them female adults, have been recovered out of the 20 individuals who were reported missing.”

“The recovered bodies have been transported to City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem examinations,” Onyango said.

He, however, says that rescue efforts are facing challenges due to the rough conditions of the lake and heavy rainfall.

“The combined efforts of the Police Marines, UPDF Marines, and local residents persist in their mission to locate and recover all missing persons,” he said.

Onyango appealed to the public, especially those with missing relatives, to remain patient and composed as the rescue team continues to work tirelessly around the clock in their search and recovery operations.
