Police have launched investigations into two chilling incidents that could be connected or could turn out to be two completely separate tragedies.

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire reveals that the  first case involves a missing juvenile, Aneza Merisa, reported on 6th November 2025 by her mother, Kamuganga Sarah, at Wandegeya Police Station. Aneza reportedly vanished without a trace, sparking panic within the family and neighbourhood.

He further explains that just days later, another disturbing scene on 10th November 2025, police recovered a decomposing body in Musaale Swamp, Namulaba Village. The body was dressed in a navy-blue student skirt with the label “Nanyonga VII”, hinting that the victim could be a student.

Police rushed the remains to Kayunga mortuary, but due to the advanced decomposition, mortuary staff buried the body immediately.

He says that when Aneza’s parents heard the news, they feared the worst, believing the body could be their missing daughter. But the truth is unclear, because they never saw the body before the burial.

Now police are moving to exhume the grave, after applying for a court order to obtain samples for DNA testing.

Owoyesigyire has appealed stay patient as investigations continue into the matter.

Aneza’s mother reported her daughter missing at Kikoni B Police Station on November 6. She says Aneza had been serving a one-week suspension from school and had been staying with her since October 28. According to the mother’s account which remains unverified ,the student left home in uniform to meet her father, who was expected to escort her back to school, but never reached him.

After images circulated online, Aneza’s parents suspected the body could be hers. The mother claims she travelled to Nagalama, viewed the remains, and identified the body as her daughter but police say this identification is not yet scientifically confirmed.
