A massive joint security swoop yesterday, 16 February 2026, saw 255 suspects arrested in Kampala and Wakiso in a bid to crack down on crime hotspots.

Police targeted notorious areas including Nansana West, Kyebando, Gganda, Kyanja, Kiwologoma, and Namugongo, as well as selected spots in Kampala’s CBD.

Arrests included 134 men and 2 women from the city center, all charged with possession of suspected narcotics and related offenses. Confiscated drugs were recovered during the operations.

65 were netted in Nansana and surrounding areas, 38 in Kira Municipality, 16 in Kyanja

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, said the raids are part of ongoing efforts to flush out criminal gangs and keep the streets safe. He said more operations are expected to follow.

Meanwhile, on February 15, 2026, in Kampala, police swooped on crime hotspots on the night of 15 February 2026, arresting 95 suspects across the metro area.

SP Kawala Racheal, the KMP spokesperson says officers in Nsangi Division hit areas including Kyengera, Kazinga, Nabaziza, Wakimese, Masanda, Kinaawa, Kikajjo, Kasenge, and Nakasozi, targeting marijuana spots, street robberies, and paver attacks, arresting 80 suspects.

Similarly, police in Kajansi raided Akright Estate and Kinyarwanda, cracking down on phone snatchers, burglars, and bars breaking curfew, netting 15 more suspects.

All are now in custody as the police step up efforts to keep Kampala streets safe.

Kawala promised more operations to maintain law and order and protect residents from criminal activity.
