Socialite Don Nasser is off the hook after the DPP dropped all charges against him in a sensational child trafficking and defilement case.

During a hearing on Tuesday, the court was presented with a nolle prosequi letter stating that prosecutors would no longer pursue the case. No explanation was given.

Nasser, who has been at the center of shocking allegations, had been accused along with Promise Ateete of luring a 16-year-old girl and sexually exploiting her in Kampala and Kira. Police alleged that Ateete befriended the teen on Snapchat, introduced her to Nasser, and the victim was taken to Kamokya Apartments, where she was reportedly given cocaine before abuse.

The court acted quickly to return Nasser’s Shs3 million bail and his passport, as he was absent due to illness..

Public reactions are mixed, with some questioning why the charges were suddenly dropped, and others welcoming the resolution after nearly two years of legal drama.
