More than 80 suspects have on Thursday been arraigned before the City Hall Court following fresh disruptive operations conducted by Uganda Police Force under the Kira Road Police Division.

According to police, the February 26, 2026 operations targeted crime-prone areas including Kamwokya, Mulimira, Kyebando, Kisaasi and Kyanja. Over 80 suspects were screened and formally charged at City Hall Court.

Police said the operations are part of sustained efforts to restore law, order and public safety within their jurisdiction. Members of the media have been invited to follow up on the court proceedings.

Earlier Sweeps Net Hundreds

The February 26 crackdown follows similar coordinated operations conducted on February 24 and 25 across the Kampala Metropolitan Area and surrounding districts.

In Kira Division Police (Wakiso District), 81 suspects were arrested on February 24 at around 8:00pm in Mulawa Trading Centre and Najjera Kamwanyi.

At Old Kampala Police Division, operations carried out between 5:00pm and 9:00pm in Kisenyi Zone, Muza Zone and surrounding areas led to the arrest of 152 suspects.

Meanwhile, Jinja Road Police Division arrested 20 suspects during a late-night operation at about 11:00pm in Center Zone, Kaggo Buyinja and Kinawataka in Nakawa Division.

In Nansana, police arrested 48 suspects during operations conducted shortly after midnight on February 25, while Wakiso Police Division picked up 23 suspects in Wakiso Town earlier on February 24.

Operations in Bulenga area, including Musoke Road, Kawuzi Street, Gogonya and Kikaaya Katogo, resulted in 50 arrests.

At Kajjansi Police Division, six suspects were arrested in Kilyamuli, Kilumba and Namulanda Ward, Kajjansi Town Council.

Additionally, Kira Road Division operations on February 25 in Universal Kisaasi Sector, Kamwokya and Kyebando led to the arrest of 49 suspects.

Exhibits Recovered

During the coordinated sweeps, police recovered opium rolls, suspected house-breaking tools and other implements believed to have been used in criminal activities.

Police confirmed that cases of possession of opium and public nuisance have been opened against several suspects. Those not yet arraigned remain in custody and will be screened before being produced in court.

Police says the disruptive operations will continue as part of intensified crime prevention efforts in the Kampala Metropolitan area.
