Kampala woke up to yet another dramatic twist in a widening high-profile security operation that has dominated political talk across the weekend and into the new week, as luxury vehicles linked to Speaker Anita Among aka AAA were reportedly moved under heavy security escort through the capital.
The movement of a Rolls Royce and a Range Rover through Kampala streets under tight escort to police facilities in Naguru sparked a wave of public reaction, with stunned onlookers recording videos and photos of the unusual convoy as it passed through key city routes.
The vehicles are among several luxury assets reportedly picked up during an ongoing joint security operation involving CID and other state agencies, in what has been widely described as an escalating probe into alleged illicit wealth and asset declarations.
The operation is said to have begun on Friday last week, when security personnel reportedly moved into a high-end Nakasero residence linked to the Speaker. Sources indicate that the early phase involved extended searches of the property, with documents and electronic devices allegedly taken for further examination.
By Sunday, the operation had reportedly shifted to Kigo, where heavily armed operatives conducted further searches at another high-value residence. It is from this location that the luxury vehicles are said to have been recovered and later transported under escort.
The developments, led by what insiders loosely refer to as CID units operating under senior investigative command structures and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) have kept security teams active across multiple locations over several days, drawing intense public curiosity and speculation.
Some reports further reveal that a mobile phone was seized for forensic analysis, although authorities have not publicly released detailed findings from the search.
Authorities have not issued a full official breakdown of the vehicles or confirmed the total assets taken for inspection. Neither has any formal charge been announced against the Speaker in connection with the ongoing operation.
The Inspectorate of Government and security agencies have also not publicly disclosed the scope or timeline of the investigation.
The probe is widely understood to form enforcement on alleged corruption, money laundering, and breaches of the Leadership Code Act, which requires public officials to declare assets and explain sources of wealth.
Speaker Among remains out of public view during the heightened activity.
The Rolls Royce Cullinan has been widely described in public as a turning point for Among
The Bukedea Woman MP, who has been politically active and confident about her influence heading into the 12th Parliament cycle, has recently found herself at the centre of widespread online scrutiny following viral reports alleging the acquisition of a Rolls Royce 2025 Cullinan valued at approximately UGX 3.4 billion.
The claims quickly gained traction online and triggered heated public debate across political and social platforms.
The discourse was further amplified after Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba made a social media remark referencing luxury vehicles, noting that at his age he had neither driven a Rolls Royce nor had his father.
The situation escalated further when the Speaker appeared at a presidential dinner dressed in what online commentators described as a designer outfit estimated at about UGX 32 million, sparking additional public reaction across social media platforms.
As the controversy intensified, an online parliamentary exposé attributed to Agora Discourse brought forward further allegations regarding parliamentary budget allocations, staffing structures, and internal financial flows.
The claims included suggestions of increased institutional budgets, expanded staffing numbers, and alleged movement of funds through parliamentary linked channels, including the Parliamentary Sacco. These allegations, however, remain unverified and have not been confirmed by official audit institutions or government reports.
The online report also alleged large expenditure figures within a period spanning mid-2025 to early 2026, sparking widespread debate about parliamentary spending and accountability. These figures remain part of public discourse and have not been substantiated by official findings.
Political developments were further fuelled by reports of internal party and political realignments, including claims of shifts in endorsement dynamics ahead of future parliamentary contests.
Shortly after, attention shifted from online allegations to real world developments.
