Police have arrested two more suspects in connection with the theft of six laptop computers belonging to Bank of Uganda bringing the total number of suspects in custody to four as investigations into the high-profile break-in continue.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire the theft occurred on the night of May 3, 2026, when unknown individuals broke into Bank of Uganda offices along Kampala Road and stole six laptops.
Police say earlier investigations had already led to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of two of the stolen laptops.
However, after what authorities described as “rigorous investigations,” detectives arrested two additional suspects and recovered the remaining four laptops, meaning all six stolen computers have now been recovered.
The suspects have been identified as Kule Boaz Micheal, Kabuya Ramathan alias Rama, Lubangakene Isaac Izoo and Oedo Jorem Jude.
Police said all the recovered laptops are currently being kept as exhibits as investigations continue.
The four suspects are expected to appear before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court today, May 20, 2026, where they will face charges including office breaking, theft, receiving stolen property and retaining stolen property.
The case had sparked concern due to the sensitive nature of the institution involved, with investigators racing to recover the devices and establish whether any critical information may have been compromised.
