The net is tightening around suspects behind the dramatic Nsambya cash robbery after police arrested three more people believed to be linked to the theft of Shs45.1 million from Riverside Forex Bureau officials.

The latest arrests come days after police picked up Kamoga Yudah alias “Sparta” and Kayabula Arnold, a boda boda rider, on June 12, 2026.

A motorcycle registration number UMA 602KK, believed to have been used during the robbery, was also recovered.

Police say the robbery happened on May 6, 2026, after Riverside Forex Bureau officials left Bunga Trading Centre carrying USD 13,000 to exchange it into Uganda shillings at a forex bureau along Kampala Road.

But before they could complete their journey, they were intercepted at Nsambya by a gang of assailants riding six motorcycles who attacked them and escaped with the cash.

Following further investigations, police arrested three more suspects identified as Atusasiirwe Farouk alias “Gaza”, Ssemakula Ibra alias “Bugalo Mwenda”, and Matovu Alex.

The suspects, from Nansana, Bulenga and Kazo in Kawempe respectively, are currently in police custody as detectives continue hunting for other members of the gang.

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesman Luke Owoyesgyire says efforts are ongoing to arrest all individuals involved in the robbery and recover more evidence linked to the case.
