The clock is ticking for schools with learners sitting the 2026 national examinations as UNEB’s normal registration window closes at midnight on Tuesday.
The Uganda National Examinations Board has issued a final reminder to schools, parents and candidates to complete registration before the deadline, warning that no learner should be left behind because of delayed registration.
UNEB spokesperson Jennifer Kalule says a candidate is only considered registered after the school’s registration invoice has been fully paid.
The cost of securing a candidate’s place stands at Shs34,000 for PLE, Shs164,000 for UCE and Shs186,000 for UACE candidates.

So far, more than 1.5 million learners (A total of one million, five hundred eighty-four thousand, five hundred and nineteen (1,584,519) candidates ) have secured their slots for the examinations, with PLE candidates leading the numbers.
UNEB records show that 910,774 pupils have registered for PLE, 479,681 students for UCE, and 194,064 for UACE.
But for those who miss the Tuesday deadline, UNEB says the second chance comes with a warning. Late registration will only run from July 1 to July 31, with a surcharge on the registration , after which the doors will officially close.
“No more registration of candidates for all levels will be accepted after July,” the board warned.
Kalule has reminded schools that moving a candidate from one examination centre to another will not be automatic. The school must explain the reason for the transfer, while the new centre must confirm it can accommodate the learner before UNEB approves the move.
She further called on parents and schools with unanswered questions to contact UNEB for guidance before time runs out.
