Savimaxx Limited Uganda is a multi-disciplinary professional consulting firm with demonstrated experience in successful management and implementation of projects.
We are looking for a Retainer Independent GIS Specialist with a Ph. D and at least five years’ experience or Master’s Degree with at least 15 years experience in geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Cartography, Geomatics or other relevant field providing advanced skill and expertise in GIS analysis and remote sensing.
- Must have very good writing, editing skills, presentations skills and reporting skills. Must be fluent in spoken, hearing and written English.
- The consultant must be conversant in preparing in Physical Development Plans, Urban and Regional Plans; Spatial Plans, Master Plans or any other Land Use Planning related consultancy assignments.
- S/he must have very good interpersonal skills, must be able to work in a multi-disciplinary team and in a diverse multi-cultural environment.
- S/he must prepare the necessary base maps which must be informed by accurate up-to-date spatial information obtained through verifiable appropriate methods such as topographic surveys, use of up-to-date satellite images and/or aerial photographs at appropriate resolution.
- Hands-on experience with GIS software (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS), including spatial data manipulation, map creation and analysis.
- Experience with geospatial data management and spatial database systems (e.g. PostGIS, SQL for GIS). Proficiency in remote sensing, 3D modeling, or spatial statistics to enhance GIS analysis and visualization will be an added advantage.
