The Infectious Diseases Institute is hiring a Biomedical Engineering Technic responsible for installation, maintenance, repair of medical equipment used in health facilities in West Nile region and ensure that equipment functions accurately and safely.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:



  • This will be accomplished by performing regular inspections, troubleshooting malfunctions, and conducting safety checks to minimize equipment downtime.

  • The officer will also train healthcare workers on the proper use of medical equipment

  • To carryout planned preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance of medical equipment in West Nile region

  • Respond timely to distress calls of equipment breakdonw within the region

  • Participate in generating equipment specifications and advise health facility managers on equipment acquisition

  • Ensure safe storage of maintenance tools and spare parts

  • To develop a schedule for health facility visits to conduct planned preventive maintenance

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports, and present to immediate supervisor

  • Keep an up to date medical equipment inventory in the electronic system

  • Installl newly procured medical equipment and, verify that they are function and safe to use

  • Training staff members to operate and care for equipment with physcial demonstrations and educational presentations

  • Ensure safe disposal of obsolete equipment or equipment parts in accordance with MOH and district standards

  • Ensure adequate decontamination done prior to repair, maintenance and decommissioning of equipment

  • Assist in evaluating and recommending new equipment for purchase to improve patient care


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:



  • Diploma in Biomedical Engineering

  • Diploma in Biomedical Engineering

  • Good interpersonal skills and able to interact productively with other team members

  • Self-motivated, innovative and capable of meeting deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work in teams in a respectful way
