Communication Support (Consultancy)

About the Organization

The Act Church of Sweden is a faith-based development and humanitarian actor working globally to support marginalized communities, defend human rights, and fight poverty.

The Regional Office for Africa is based in Kampala and works with churches and partners in development, humanitarian, and advocacy programs.

Responsibilities and Duties

Reporting to the Director of the Regional Office, the consultant will:

• Collect communication materials (written content, pictures, video clips)


• Prepare communication content such as:
  
  
  
  • Articles
  
  
  • Human interest stories
  
  
  • Photos and video clips
  
  
  
  


• Document humanitarian responses in:
  
  
  
  • Sudan crisis (inside Sudan)
  
  
  • South Sudan
  
  
  • Uganda
  
  
  
  


• Travel within the region (security permitting)

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant education and training in communication


• At least 5 years of relevant experience, including humanitarian work


• Knowledge of humanitarian principles (Core Humanitarian Standard - CHS)


• Proven ability to write human interest stories and articles


• Ability to capture high-quality photos and videos


• Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision


• Strong multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment


• Ability to meet strict deadlines


• Knowledge of Sudan crisis and regional context is an advantage


• Good understanding and respect for GDPR requirements

Eligibility

• Open only to consultants with legal consultancy contracts in Uganda


• Must hold a valid passport


• Ability to travel to South Sudan and Sudan
