Background

Catalystas Consulting needs a sharp, experienced PURE Energy Specialist to act as a technical "sanity check" for our East African research. You will not just be collecting data; you will be auditing the implementation plans of our client (SNV) to ensure they are high-impact, policy-aligned, and market-ready.

We need someone who can quickly identify if the client is missing key actors, heading in a sub-optimal direction, or overlooking critical macro-economic risks (like currency volatility or shifting energy compacts).

Responsibilities

• Strategy Audit: Deep-dive into current PURE-RA implementation plans to identify "blind spots," missing leverage points, and misaligned partnerships.


• Technical Validation: Provide expert insight into PURE costing, financing models (PAYGO, RBF), and technology providers across Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Rwanda.


• Actor Discovery: Suggest "missing" strategic actors (SMEs, policy influencers, financiers) that should be integrated into the project.


• Cross-Team Advisory: Act as a "roving expert" across our four country teams to ensure technical consistency and strategic depth in our final recommendations.

Candidate Profile

• Expertise: Deep technical and market knowledge of PURE in agriculture (solar irrigation, cooling, milling).


• Strategic Instinct: You can look at a 5-year project plan and immediately spot what’s missing or what won't scale in the current African market.


• Professionalism: You are notoriously on-time, highly professional, and comfortable working with multi-country research teams.


• Ethics & Equity: In line with Catalystas' feminist values, strong preference will be given to female researchers and experts.

Commitment

• Availability: Roughly 25 days between now and the end of May.


• Pace: High. We need rapid synthesis and professional engagement.
