Job Purpose
The Records Officer is responsible for managing patient records and health information systems to ensure accurate documentation, confidentiality, and efficient retrieval of medical records in support of quality healthcare service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Register patients and create new medical records.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient files.
- Retrieve, file, and archive medical records efficiently.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of patient documentation.
- Update patient information in manual or electronic record systems.
- Prepare routine health records reports.
- Support data collection and reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with records management policies and patient confidentiality standards.
- Coordinate with clinical departments to ensure timely availability of patient records.
Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Records and Information Management, Health Information Management, or a related field.
- Computer literacy is required.
Experience
- Previous experience in health records management within a healthcare facility is preferred.
- Experience with electronic medical record systems is an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong organizational and record management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of confidentiality and integrity.
- Attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position.
