Description


Straight Talk Foundation (STF) is hiring a Transport Officer – Bursary Programme responsible for transporting staff to different duty destinations and maintaining the project vehicle. The candidate will also ensure proper vehicle log management, maintenance tracking, and timely submission of fuel accountabilities.


Background information about the job or company 


Straight Talk Foundation (STF) is a Ugandan health communications National Non-Governmental Organization founded in 1993, operating nationally in Uganda. Its activities and interventions aim at improving the sexual reproductive health and well-being of young people for the adoption of healthy behaviors through advocacy, evidence-driven communication, and youth-friendly service delivery.


With support from the Embassy of Ireland, STF has been implementing the Bursary Programme aimed at improving access to education, retention, and completion of post-primary and post-secondary education for bright but disadvantaged girls and boys in the Karamoja Sub-Region.


Responsibilities or duties



  • Update the logbook of the assigned vehicle with correct mileage, fuel, oil, and spare parts used.

  • Prepare fuel accountabilities and maintain a tracker on mechanical faults.

  • Carry out routine checks and prepare appropriate service schedules for the assigned vehicle.

  • Transport staff to various duty destinations.

  • Ensure safe delivery of project documents and supplies in transit.

  • Check and verify all service and repairs undertaken on the assigned vehicle and provide feedback to the Procurement and Logistics Officer.

  • Perform any other tasks as advised by the supervisor.


Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)



  • The applicant should possess an S.6 Leavers Certificate or Diploma.

  • Excellent communication and computer skills.

  • Awareness of good practices in child safeguarding and Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA).

  • Possession of a valid driving permit for Classes A, B, E, CM, and CH.


Experience needed



  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience driving project vehicles.


Any other provided details (e.g., benefits, work environment, team info, or additional notes)


Added Advantage:



  • Knowledge of defensive driving

  • Basic automotive maintenance

  • First aid skills

  • Familiarity with different routes around the country
